So yeah, I did a cross country road trip a few years ago; we drove out and camped most of the way towards the west, but then we stayed with some friends in San Francisco, which kinda spoiled us... so we didn't do much camping on the way back. We drove back further south though. It was really hot, so you can't blame us for wimping out. As far as things to see, Bryce canyon was amazing, (along with pretty much all of southern Utah) Badlands park and Glacier park are definitely worth it too.
