Thread - How far have you walked?

Last Sunday I walked about 7 miles just to go exploring, and I found some pretty rad places. I know my brother once walked from Rehoboth to Lowell, MA in a couple of days to get to college, and I know a few people who have done huge hiking trails like the AT, etc. Do you have any good stories about walking long distances just to walk? |

I cant drive, so I have done quite my share of walking. I live in the south bay, so I'll take the strand through Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo Beach, which is quite a few miles round-trip. Also in Palos Verdes--all the streets are long and winding, and there are old buildings and lighthouses. It's quite the adventure. |

I did close 80+ miles this past summer in the Himalayas. Pretty lame distance actually, but had my friend not picked up a girlfriend in Turkey, he would have arrived in Nepal earlier and given me more time to trek. I shouldn't complain though, my legs were in rough shape the last day. I was never so happy to scarf down a samosa and drink crappy beer in my life. Plus the scent of marijuana was choking throughout most of the trip, as it was grown on the sides of the trails. Did pick up a stray dog though, and caught a few amazing sights. Kids, stay off drugs. That crap will rot your brain. |
